My name is Kevin Arnason and I am the Georgetown Personal Trainer for Trainers On Site. I have been a Personal Trainer for almost 5 years now.
Before deciding to pursue Personal Training, my interest was in computers. While I was attending university for computer science in 2005, my health and fitness never came to mind. I was overweight and never really noticed. The weight came on gradually and I didn’t realize how bad it had gotten until people started commenting. People would say “you are getting a bit of a belly” and “have you considered starting an exercise program”. It wasn’t until someone had challenged me to lose the weight that I actually took initiative. A good friend of mine told me that I “couldn’t” do it.
To prove my friend wrong I knew I had to do well. At that time I weighed 210 pounds. I realized that much of my problem came from my unhealthy eating habits. On a regular day, I would start with an extra-large French Vanilla, a small pizza for lunch, a large dinner and a carb-packed midnight snack. I would consume about 2 litres of soft drinks per day along with a large bag of chips. Looking back, I am so glad that I decided to make a change when I did.
Fixing my diet was step one. I wrote down everything I planned to eat for the week, and stuck to it. Next, I started exercising, but with no previous experience it didn’t take long before I plateaued and stopped getting results. Frustrated that I was putting in so much effort and not getting the results I wanted, I decided to take some courses in fitness.
After taking Fitness Theory (BCRPA) and Individual Conditioning (BCRPA), I quickly managed to take off the rest of my excess body fat. This dropped me from my previous 210 down to 150 pounds!
Once I lost the weight I began to enjoy life to it’s fullest. I love hiking with my dog, mountain climbing, working out, soccer, and practically everything else pertaining to exercise.
I immediately saw the love I had for fitness and began helping others reach their fitness goals. I started with friends and family, and soon after decided to leave the computer science field and pursue Personal Training as a full time career.
Since then, I have worked as a Georgetown Personal Trainer for big box gyms and independently, but I was always looking to offer more for my clients. It wasn’t until I discovered Trainers On Site and met with Robert Foster that I knew I could make an even bigger impact on my clients, and get them even better results.
In big box gyms, members often don’t achieve optimal results because majority of their results come from what they do outside the gym. What they eat, how active they are, daily stresses and many other factors that stay at the client’s homes can be more easily monitored when theIn Home Personal Trainercan see the environment they live in outside the gym.
Another factor going against my clients’ workouts was finding the time and motivation to get to the gym. Many of my clients were having trouble getting motivated, and after a stressful day combined with bad weather and traffic, getting ready and driving to the gym when you are already unmotivated is very unlikely.
When I discovered Trainers On Site, I was immediately interested and set up a meeting with Rob, the owner of the company. After learning more about the way Trainers On Site operates, I knew I had found the company I was looking for that goes above and beyond to ensure that clients get optimal results. I couldn't wait to become a Georgetown Personal Trainer.
Working with Trainers On Site, I am responsible for; the success of my clients, scheduling, goal setting, and every other aspect of operating a business. I am my own boss, which gives me pride and determination in my work. I firmly believe that the more effort and hard work you give to a company, the more success you should get in return. That is true with fitness, and entirely true withTrainers On Site.
As the Georgetown Personal Trainer I have helped many people achieve their fitness goals in the comfort of their own homes. Seeing the success, increased energy and joy that I bring others reminds me of my own success and drives me to constantly grow and improve.
